The Basics of Using Hybrid

For most jobs using the Hybrid default values works great. To apply Hybrid Normal to an entire cylinder:

1. Gravure Parameters > Specialty Options tab
2. Set Hybrid Quality to Normal, LW Threshold to 95, Threshold Difference to 10.

 

If certain areas of the image need extra attention, use Selective Area to apply special settings. For example, negative text or a barcode may need Hybrid Fine in just that area. The video gives brief instructions. More detailed instructions follow the video.

Using Selective Area Hybrid

1. Click on one image position on the canvas, then click Edit > Select All (or use Control A). This ensures that the changes are made to all positions.
2. Open the Position Editor. You may need to zoom up on the area with the negative text or barcode.
3. Click the Relative Placement icon (second from left).
4. Draw a box around the area. Tip: Give the Relative Place Element a name to identify the area, such as Barcode. This is helpful if you have a lot of them on one image.
5. In the Relative Place element window, click the Curves/Filters button.
6. Click Specialty Options on the Parameters window.
7. Under Quality, select Fine.
8. Click OK to close the Parameters window.
9. Click Apply then Close to close the Relative Placement Element window.
10. Click OK to close the Position Editor window.

You have now added Hybrid Fine to only the selected area of the image.
